RESEARCH ENQUIRIES

Welcome to our Research Service at the Royal Highland Fusiliers Museum!

We are delighted to receive enquiries pertaining to the soldiers of our Regiment and antecedent regiments:

  • The Royal Highland Fusiliers (RHF)
  • The Royal Scots Fusiliers (RSF)
  • The Highland Light Infantry (HLI)

HOW TO APPLY

Please fill out our research enquiry form below with as much information as you can provide. Genealogical and historical enquiries cost both time and manpower, therefore a minimum research fee of £30.00 is charged for each enquiry. This fee goes towards the upkeep of our library/archive and must be paid before we will begin working on your enquiry.

Please be aware

We cannot guarantee that our research efforts will find the answers to your enquiry, although, it still takes time to explore all possible avenues for research. Please note that, even if our research efforts are unsuccessful, the research fee is non-refundable.

WHAT TO EXPECT

We will conduct research using our archive collections, reference library and online resources. We do not hold individual service records in our collection. We also do not hold named photographs or portraits of soldiers unless they have been donated to us.

We aim to respond to enquiries as quickly as possible, however, please note that all of our research is completed by volunteers so we do not have a guaranteed response time.

We will send completed research via email unless advised otherwise.

IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE APPLYING

If your enquiry concerns a soldier who was discharged after 1920, their records are not available to the public and we do not have access to them. These records are held either by the National Archives (TNA) or the Ministry of Defence (MOD) and you will need to apply for the records from these organisations directly before we can help you with your research enquiry.
