THE BUILDING'S HISTORY
518 Sauchiehall Street was once home to the renowned Glasgow photographer, Thomas Annan. The earliest part of the building dates back to 1825 and originally formed part of Albany Place, a terrace of town-houses extending from Garnet Street to Charing Cross. In 1903, Annan commissioned the architectural firm, Honeyman, Keppie & Mackintosh, to design an extension to the building. The ground floor (now Galleries 1 and 2) originally comprised Annan’s showroom and salon.
In 1960, the building became the Headquarters of The Royal Highland Fusiliers.
