The Royal Highland Fusiliers

The collection is primarily military and includes firearms, edged weapons, colours and flags, dress and insignia, decorations and medals, paintings, prints and drawings, sporting trophies, musical instruments, regimental order books, some service records and related documents, as well as memorabilia and souvenirs of service at home and abroad.

Additionally, the Museum preserves a library and photographic collection of some historical importance. Its scope extends beyond the Regular Line Infantry Regiment which forms its foundations, to the associated Regiments of Militia, volunteer corps and other auxiliary units, (which include the Home Guard and affiliated Army Cadet Corps) through to their Territorial Force and Territorial Army successors active in the Regimental District (Glasgow and Ayrshire) and covers the period 1678-1959.

Opening times

We are open Monday -Thursday 9am-4pm and Friday 9am-3pm. We are closed over Christmas and New Year.

Admission

Entry to the museum is FREE although donations are most welcome. If you are bringing a larger groups it's best to let us know in advance.

The Museum tells the stories of the officers and and men who served in the regiments over three centuries. It follows the them around the world and tells of their deeds long ago, and in their own words, of their adventures in the great wars of the 20th Century.
