We want to start this month with a post in appreciation of all our volunteers past and present, because, like any small museum, we know that without them our daily life would be much harder and in many cases a lot of our services, from research to even this site could not function an the level it does.

Over the years many truly fascinating people have been involved in our institution. Therefore as a way of showing our gratitude and to show how interesting and fulfilling museum volunteering could be, we want to present to you some profiles of our volunteer staff.

We want to start with Christy Yates (pictured with George Cross) who was a volunteer between June 2014 and June 2015, and presently is working full time at the reception desk of the National Maritime Museum at Royal Museums Greenwich in London as well as volunteering at the British Museum’s Drawing and Prints Room as a Scanning and Digitisation assistant

We do believe that no one can better tell his story about his time in the RHF Museum than the man himself: http://christyyates.blogspot.nl/2015/06/volunteering-at-royal-highland.html

If you want to follow his footsteps and join our ranks as a volunteer, please contact our RHF Development Officer at joyce@rhf.org.uk or call the museum 0141 332 0961.
